I have had many wonderful opportunities since I began sharing my story nearly three years ago. Today tops the lot.
I was asked by Time to Change Global to appear in a video to help reduce global stigma around mental health. As if that wasn’t a privilege enough, I am featured alongside Hollywood actress Glenn Close, Great British Bake Off winner Nadiya Hussain, and a number of mental health champions that are challenging stigma around the world.
Today, on World Mental Health Day, the video premiered at the first Global Ministerial Summit for Mental Health.
Overwhelmed…
I have to admit to feeling very overwhelmed and emotional when viewing the video this morning. This isn’t usual for me and it took me by surprise. In that moment, I was suddenly aware of just how far I have come; of just how bad things were when I was at my lowest points, suffering from terrible depressions that lasted for many months and that I didn’t think I could possibly survive.
I would never, ever have thought this kind of opportunity would have been possible for me. I am hugely grateful to the wonderful Time to Change, for this and the other opportunities that they have given me to share my story to help others.
Never forget…
Whatever you are going through in life, no matter how bad things get, you never know what wonderful things life may have waiting for you on the other side. So many opportunities have reminded me of this in recent years, and although there will always be times of struggle, I never doubt that there are always bright days ahead.
I hope that you like the video.

It was so cool seeing this debut at the Global MH Summit! Such a cool project, you should be super proud of yourself for the role you played in it.
Thank you Cara, it was such an amazing opportunity to be able to be part of it.
